The TBC TAR-440L is an advanced Automatic Recloser RCCB that combines earth leakage protection with intelligent automatic reclosing technology. Designed to automatically restore power supply after temporary earth leakage faults, this device significantly improves power continuity while maintaining the highest standards of electrical safety. Ideal for applications where uninterrupted power supply is critical, the TAR-440L reduces downtime and eliminates the need for manual intervention in case of nuisance tripping.
The TAR-440L Automatic Recloser RCCB represents a significant advancement in electrical protection technology. By integrating an automatic reclosing mechanism (REC) with a high-quality electromechanical RCCB, this device addresses one of the most common challenges in electrical installations: nuisance tripping caused by temporary earth leakage faults.
Traditional RCCBs require manual intervention to restore power after tripping, which can lead to extended downtime, especially in unmanned or remote installations. The TAR-440L solves this problem with its intelligent reclosing program that automatically attempts to restore power up to 6 times, using progressively longer delay intervals (10s, 20s, 30s, 60s, 120s, and 600s). This approach allows temporary faults to clear while preventing continuous reclosing in case of persistent faults.
The device is suitable for residential, commercial, and light industrial applications where power continuity is essential. Its robust construction, wide operating temperature range, and compliance with international standards make it a reliable choice for demanding environments.
With auxiliary contacts for remote monitoring and a padlockable design for enhanced safety, the TAR-440L offers both functionality and security. The compact 4-module design ensures efficient use of distribution board space while providing comprehensive 4-pole protection.
Reclosing Mechanism Technology: The TAR-440L features an advanced automatic reclosing mechanism operating at 220/240V AC, 50Hz. The REC unit consumes 30VA and provides toggle control for easy operation. The reclosing sequence is intelligently programmed with six attempts using progressive delays: 10 seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds, 60 seconds, 120 seconds, and finally 600 seconds. This progressive delay strategy allows transient faults to clear while preventing rapid cycling that could damage equipment or create safety hazards.
RCCB Protection: The electromechanical RCCB core provides reliable earth leakage protection with a rated residual current of 300mA (0.3A). The device is designed to not trip at 0.5 × I∆n, ensuring stability during normal operation while providing fast response to genuine earth leakage conditions. With a rated breaking capacity of 500A and rated limited short-circuit current of 6kA, the TAR-440L offers robust protection even under fault conditions.
Auxiliary Contacts: The integrated auxiliary contacts (1 NO + 1 NC) are dry contacts rated for maximum 250V / 2A, enabling integration with building management systems, alarm systems, or remote monitoring equipment. These contacts provide real-time status indication of the RCCB state.
Mechanical Design: The device features DIN rail mounting for standard installation in distribution boards. With IP20 degree of protection and electrical durability rated for 5,000 cycles, the TAR-440L is built for long-term reliability. The padlockable design allows for lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance.
Environmental Performance: Operating reliably across a temperature range of -35°C to +70°C and humidity levels up to 93%, the TAR-440L is suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations in various climatic conditions.
