Operating Principle:

The TBC TAR-240M operates through an intelligent four-stage process designed to maximize safety while minimizing unnecessary power interruptions:

  1. Fault Detection: The RCCB continuously monitors for earth leakage currents. When residual current exceeds the 100mA threshold, the device trips immediately to protect against electric shock and fire hazards.
  2. Automatic Reclosing: After the initial trip, the auto recloser unit initiates a reclosing sequence after a preset delay (0.4s to 1.0s closing time), attempting to restore power automatically.
  3. Sequential Attempts: If the fault persists, the device makes up to 6 reclosing attempts with progressively longer intervals (10s, 20s, 30s, 60s, 120s, and 600s). This intelligent sequencing allows temporary faults to clear while preventing repeated exposure to persistent faults.
  4. Lock-out Protection: After the final unsuccessful reclosing attempt, the device enters lock-out mode, requiring manual reset. This critical safety feature prevents repeated unsafe reclosing that could lead to fire risk or equipment damage.

Protection Characteristics:

The device provides Type AC residual current protection, suitable for detecting sinusoidal alternating residual currents.
